PROJECT: AMP5 Water Main Refurbishment
SERVICES: Ecological Advice

Pen-yr-AlltMilner Ecology Ltd is responsible for providing ecological advice to  Enterprise Plc under a framework agreement as part of their project services provision to Severn Trent Water on the AMP5 Water Main Refurbishment. Over the last three years Milner Ecology Ltd has undertaken ecological surveys on over 60 sites throughout mid Wales and the Peak District.

Surveys have encompassed; Phase 1 and NVC habitat assessments, invasive species survey, breeding bird survey, great crested newt appraisals, reptile survey, water vole survey, otter survey, bat survey and badger survey, as appropriate. Following the surveys detailed method statements were produced recommending route alterations or amended working practices to avoid impacts to sensitive habitats, non-licensed Reasonable Avoidance Measures (RAMs) for great crested newts, working procedures to avoid impacts on reptiles and advisory notes on badgers and otter.

These method statements have enabled works to proceed on all projects including works near SSSIs and SACs and within National Nature Reserves and Common Land.
