Milner Ecology has been appointed to install 50 permanent quadrats at Malham Tarn National Nature Reserve. This is part of a project to install long-term monitoring points in nine National Nature Reserves. These will enable Natural England to monitor vegetation changes in response to climate change in some of Britain's most valuable habitats.
Climate change will significantly affect England's natural environment and biodiversity. These changes will be compounded by the long-term impacts of air pollution and changes in land management policy and practice. Natural England needs to understand what is driving environmental change in order to advise others on mitigation or adaptation actions and to allow them to adapt their strategies and interventions. The Long-term Monitoring Network project will deliver a cost-effective, long-term and integrated approach to meeting these evidence needs.
